A motorcycle crash on Interstate 89 in Berlin on May 30 resulted in the death of a 26-year-old woman from Williamstown.
Vermont State Police responded to reports of the single-vehicle accident at approximately 8:52 p.m. near Exit 6. Investigators identified the deceased as Journiann Leclair, who was riding a 2022 Harley-Davidson Nightster southbound when she struck a guardrail. The motorcycle only sustained minor front-end damage.
Leclair, who was not wearing protective gear, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information regarding the motorcycle’s operation prior to the incident to contact the Berlin Barracks or submit anonymous tips via the Vermont State Police website.
Emergency responders included Barre Town Ambulance, the Berlin Fire Department, and the Montpelier Police Department.
In a separate incident that same evening, a 23-year-old Coventry woman was charged with multiple offenses, including driving under the influence, following a crash in Barton.
Police arrived at the intersection of Main Street and Washington Lane to find a heavily damaged vehicle, identifying the driver as Kendra Crowe. Troopers noted signs of impairment and arrested her on-site.
Two children, aged 1 and 3, were passengers at the time of the crash. Crowe was processed at the Derby Barracks and released with a citation to appear in court. No information on injuries related to this incident was provided.
