Two Fatalities Reported in Box Truck Crash on I-78 Near Newark, NJ.

Two fatalities were reported following a crash involving a box truck on Interstate 78 in Newark on April 1.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene near mile marker 56.6 around 6:27 p.m. Authorities said the Isuzu box truck lost control, veering off the highway, striking a concrete barrier, and hitting a light pole before overturning and falling from the overpass into a dirt area below.

The driver, 35-year-old Chad Hill of Edison, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. A 46-year-old male passenger from Brooklyn, New York, also died in the incident; his identity is being withheld pending family notification.

New Jersey State Police continue to investigate the crash. No additional injuries have been reported, and there are no confirmed lane closures at this time. Towing operations are underway.

Authorities have expressed condolences to the families affected by this tragic event.
