Two fatalities reported in single-motorcycle accident in Albany County.

LARAMIE, Wyo. — Two individuals died on July 21 in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 287 near Laramie.

The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m. when the motorcycle, driven by 47-year-old Brian Short of Wyoming, experienced a rear tire failure. Authorities said the vehicle skidded and tipped over onto its right side, ejecting both Short and 46-year-old Donna Simkins of South Dakota.

Neither occupant was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP). The WHP lists equipment failure as the likely cause of the incident.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but both individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival. The highway was temporarily closed for investigation and recovery.

This is a developing story; information may change as the Wyoming Highway Patrol continues its investigation.
