A Henagar woman died Sunday in a motorcycle crash on Alabama Highway 35, while a Jackson County incident on Monday resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man, also from Henagar.
According to Alabama State Troopers, Christina T. Powell, 21, was operating a 2023 Kawasaki Z400 when she lost control around 5:55 p.m. Sunday, near the 12-mile marker, approximately six miles north of Gaylesville. The motorcycle left the roadway, struck several trees, and she was thrown from the bike. Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, Zachary S. Smith, 27, was killed when the 2003 Yamaha Road Star he was riding left the roadway and crashed into a ditch. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Jackson County 778, approximately five miles west of Ider. Smith was also thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating both crashes.
