Two motorcyclists sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision in Sunrise Beach on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Route MM west of Shawnee Four Drive at approximately 3:53 p.m. A 45-year-old man from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, crossed the centerline while navigating a curve, colliding with an oncoming motorcycle driven by a 47-year-old man from Washington, Missouri.
The 47-year-old Washington man had a 44-year-old female passenger on his motorcycle. Both the South Dakota man and the Washington woman sustained serious injuries. The South Dakota man was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia, while both individuals from Washington were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.
Authorities said the scene remains under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
