Costco Employee Charged with Murder Following Fatal Motorcycle Collision in Issaquah
A Costco employee has been charged with murder after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a coworker’s motorcycle, resulting in a fatal crash in Issaquah, Washington, on August 4, 2026.
Tyler Sorensen, 22, reportedly followed 20-year-old Jonathon Langdon after witnessing him hug another coworker, Samantha Peterson. Sorensen drove a gray sedan while Langdon was on a motorcycle.
According to authorities, video footage shows Sorensen striking the back of Langdon’s motorcycle, causing him to crash into a street sign. Emergency responders found Langdon unresponsive; his body had reportedly made significant impact with the signpost.
Witnesses reported that Langdon’s motorcycle continued moving forward after the collision, and he was found face down, wearing a helmet. The force of the impact separated the visor from his helmet, and investigators noted that Langdon had visible injuries consistent with the signpost.
Authorities stated that Sorensen fled the scene but was later stopped for speeding by a Washington State Patrol trooper. He allegedly returned to the scene only after being brought back by his father. After his arrest, Sorensen admitted to investigators, “It was stupid but I… meant to do it,” expressing anger over the hug he saw between Langdon and Peterson.
During his arraignment, Sorensen pleaded not guilty. The judge set his bail at $2 million and scheduled a pretrial conference for August 27. The investigation is ongoing.
