VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County recorded the highest motorcycle fatality rate in Florida from 2015 to 2024, according to a recent analysis.
The study, conducted by researchers at Andrew Pickett Law, identified 367 motorcyclist deaths in Volusia County during this period, resulting in a rate of 6.22 deaths per 10,000 residents.
Flagler County followed with 57 fatalities, translating to a rate of 4.34 per 10,000 residents. Citrus and Pasco counties also had notable figures, while Brevard County ranked ninth, Lake County 17th, Osceola County 22nd, Orange County 26th, and Seminole County 29th.
Miami-Dade County reported the highest total number of motorcyclist fatalities at 647, though it ranked 23rd in population-adjusted rates.
The analysis focused on counties with at least 50 motorcycle fatalities over the 10 years, and emphasized that the findings reflect a population-based fatality rate rather than individual crash risks.
