HURON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A pedestrian was killed in a crash on U.S. Route 250 on Tuesday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 10:10 p.m. near Fox Road in Erie County. Richard Hartnell, 56, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was attempting to walk on the highway when he was struck.
Investigators reported that Hartnell was first hit by a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by James Ritzenthaler, 66, of Fremont. He was then struck by a Toyota RAV4 driven by Andre Luckie, 35, of Norwalk.
Hartnell sustained fatal injuries at the scene, while Ritzenthaler suffered minor injuries and received treatment on-site. Luckie reported no injuries.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Perkins Township Police Department, Erie County Coroner’s Office, and Wilson Towing and Repair provided assistance at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
