Eden Prairie Woman Charged After Fatal Wrong-Way Crash
A 50-year-old woman was charged Monday in connection with a fatal wrong-way crash on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, that occurred Saturday evening.
According to the criminal complaint, Amanda Merriman of Victoria was driving a pickup truck westbound in the eastbound lanes when she collided with a sedan near Prairie Center Drive around 8:45 p.m. A 69-year-old man, Bohdan Antoniuk of Hopkins, died at the scene.
Eden Prairie police reported that Merriman admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving and stated that she did not realize she was going the wrong way. A blood sample for toxicology testing is pending. Authorities also found marijuana and a glass pipe in her vehicle.
Merriman has previous convictions for driving under the influence and had her driver’s license revoked after a 2024 DUI conviction. At the time of the crash, she was on probation for a prior drug offense.
The incident resulted in lane closures while law enforcement conducted an investigation.
Victim Bohdan Antoniuk was headed home after working with a boy with disabilities. Family members expressed their grief and shared memories of his character, emphasizing the impact of his sudden loss.
