LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A head-on collision on US-95 north of Beatty resulted in one fatality on Sunday afternoon.
The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 4:41 p.m. near mile marker 105, involving two sport utility vehicles.
Initial reports indicate a 2016 white Subaru Outback was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of US-95 when it collided with a 2018 gray Mercedes GLS. The crash occurred on the southbound dirt shoulder.
Janis Louise Bauer, 78, of Reno, a passenger in the Mercedes, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes and both occupants of the Subaru were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
No lane closures are currently in effect, but investigations are ongoing in the crash area.
Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and slow down as they navigate the scene.
