KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 26-year-old motorcyclist died in a multi-vehicle crash Friday evening on Interstate 35 in Olathe, Kansas.

The collision occurred around 7:19 p.m. in the northbound lanes near 127th Street, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash report.

A 2018 Yamaha YZF struck the rear of a 2014 Jeep, which was followed by a leftward swerve that resulted in a collision with a 2014 Subaru Forester.

The operator of the motorcycle, a man from Gardner, Kansas, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, per the KHP report.

The 33-year-old driver of the Jeep from Independence, Missouri, and the 57-year-old driver of the Subaru from Spring Hill, Kansas, were unharmed. A 56-year-old female passenger in the Subaru also reported no injuries, with all occupants wearing seat belts.

The incident prompted the closure of the northbound lanes for several hours as authorities conducted their investigation, diverting traffic at Santa Fe Street.
