MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — A 67-year-old motorcyclist died following a crash on State Road 951 at East Elkcam Circle on Friday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred around 7:40 a.m. when the motorcyclist, riding a 2022 Harley-Davidson and not wearing a helmet, attempted to turn left onto East Elkcam Circle. Authorities said he was traveling north in the left turn lane as a 33-year-old Naples man drove a 2019 Toyota Tacoma south in the inside lane.
The Tacoma struck the right side of the motorcycle as the motorcyclist made the turn. The rider sustained critical injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The Tacoma driver was not injured.
The crash is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No additional details have been released at this time.
