SPRING VALLEY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKEF) — A motorcyclist died following a crash at State Route 42 and Roxanna New Burlington Road on October 3, 2023.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 71-year-old Jon T. Henderson of Waynesville was riding northwest on Roxanna New Burlington Road when he failed to yield at a stop sign around 5:45 p.m.
As Henderson made a left turn onto State Route 42, he was struck by 33-year-old Connor C.H. Sirmans of Xenia, who was traveling northeast on S.R. 42.
Henderson was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Sirmans received treatment at the scene and was released.
The Xenia Post of the Highway Patrol was assisted by Spring Valley Township Fire and EMS, Sugarcreek Township Fire and EMS, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and Ohio Department of Transportation.
The incident is under investigation. Authorities remind motorists to buckle up and avoid distracted driving.
