LIBERTY, Mo. — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving an SUV on MO-291 at Elizabeth Street shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Liberty Police, a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it improperly passed two vehicles. Simultaneously, a 2015 GMC Terrain SUV was northbound on 291 preparing to turn west into a private driveway when the motorcycle struck the passenger side.
Emergency crews transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 35-year-old John King of Independence, Missouri.
The incident is under investigation by the Liberty Police Department, with assistance from the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department. No further details are currently available.
