A motorcyclist died following a crash on Route 17 in Fauquier County on Friday night.
Justin P. Murphy, 42, of Fredericksburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
According to the Virginia State Police, the two-vehicle collision occurred at 9:54 p.m. Murphy’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound when it collided with a Chevrolet Silverado truck that was stopped in the travel lane with its lights off, located approximately half a mile south of Spring Mill Road.
The Silverado driver, Arturo Ayala Martinez, 37, of Catlett, was not injured in the crash. Authorities have charged Martinez with driving while intoxicated – manslaughter.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
