Youngsville Man Dies in Early Morning Highway Crash
YOUNGSVILLE, LA – A head-on collision on Louisiana Highway 338 resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man Friday morning, September 12, 2023.
According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 6 a.m. near Bonvillian Road. The man was driving westbound when his truck crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene where the man’s truck caught fire. Authorities identified the victim as Charles Levine of Youngsville. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office due to severe injuries.
The other driver, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
An investigation is ongoing, with routine toxicology samples being collected from both drivers. The cause of the collision remains undetermined, including whether the victim was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Authorities stated that lane closures were in place during the investigation and cleanup.
