Motorcycle Crash Injures Downing Man on North 13th Street
A 55-year-old Downing man was injured Tuesday afternoon, June 16, after his motorcycle collided with an all-terrain vehicle on North 13th Street, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. in Schuyler County.
Authorities reported that the man was riding a Honda motorcycle northbound when he lost control. The motorcycle overturned, hitting a southbound Polaris 500 Sportsman ATV driven by a 60-year-old Downing resident.
The motorcycle sustained total damage and was removed by its owner. The ATV suffered moderate damage and was also cleared from the scene by its operator.
The motorcycle rider was transported by Air Evac to University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The ATV driver was taken by private vehicle to Scotland County Hospital with minor injuries.
Neither driver was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash, according to the patrol report. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was aided at the scene by the Downing Fire Department and the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
