Moultrie, Ga. – A motorcyclist died and another sustained injuries in two separate accidents just days apart.
On Monday, August 22, at 2:51 p.m., Moultrie Police responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash on Veterans Parkway at U.S. Highway 319 North. Authorities said the motorcyclist, identified as Michael Footman, was found unresponsive in the southbound lane and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper 1st Class Steven Kornegay reported that a Honda Pilot collided with Footman’s motorcycle, which had been stopped at a red light. Investigators believe the Pilot’s driver fell asleep before the accident. The case has been turned over to the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, and no charges had been filed as of Tuesday.
Earlier, on Saturday, August 20, deputies with the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motorcycle fire on Riggs Store Road. A 2003 Suzuki GSXR 750 was discovered burning in the roadway, with a witness reporting a truck and car leaving the area shortly before. A woman later identified Jason Bromberger as the rider, stating he had crashed.
Bromberger was reportedly transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center by a friend and later admitted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. A spokesperson confirmed that he is in good condition, with stable vital signs. Details regarding the accident remain under investigation, with no evidence found to support Bromberger’s claim of hitting a deer.
