BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A motorcycle crash Saturday night claimed the life of a 48-year-old Temperance man, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 9:18 p.m. at the intersection of Secor and St. Anthony roads. Authorities reported that Clayton J. Devol was riding an off-road motorcycle when he was struck by a northbound truck after the driver made a turn.
Devol was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the east side of the road, where the motorcycle subsequently caught fire. The truck driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed.
Emergency responders pronounced Devol dead at the scene. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet, and his motorcycle was lacking headlights and taillights.
Authorities indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information to contact them at 734-240-7584.
