WEWAHITCHKA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – One child is dead following a UTV crash involving three children Wednesday morning in Gulf County.
Emergency responders were dispatched at approximately 10:40 a.m. to a private property north of Wewahitchka, near State Road 71. All three children were taken to a local hospital, where one succumbed to injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is now leading the investigation into the incident.
Wewahitchka High School will open Thursday at 8:00 a.m. for students needing support during this time, with certified mental health professionals available on-site.
The Gulf County Sheriff’s Office has also provided contact information for support services, including the Life Management Mobile Response team.
