A motorcycle crash in Pownal, Bennington County, resulted in serious injuries and a DUI arrest on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. when an SUV traveling southbound suffered a tire failure, causing the driver to swerve into oncoming traffic and collide with a motorcycle. Authorities identified the motorcyclist as 63-year-old Thomas Demichael, who was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, 32-year-old Danny Main Jr., was arrested on charges of DUI resulting in serious injury and driving with a suspended license. He was subsequently taken to the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and no additional injuries were reported. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Lane closures were in effect during the response and cleanup.
