Motorcyclist dies at hospital days after crash on I-40 in Asheville, authorities said.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. —
The incident occurred on July 6 at approximately 3:30 p.m. near the 49-mile marker.
Authorities identified the motorcyclist as Robert Franklin Owen III, 49, who was riding a 2005 Honda motorcycle. Preliminary investigations suggest he left the roadway and struck a guardrail, resulting in his ejection from the bike.
Owen sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on July 17.
