MUNDELEIN, IL — A motorcycle collision with an SUV on Route 45 just north of Route 83 resulted in the death of a 34-year-old man on Monday evening.

According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, Jeff Williams of Evanston died from blunt force injuries sustained during the crash. Authorities reported the incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. when Williams’ Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Honda Pilot at the entrance of a BP gas station.

Emergency response teams from the Mundelein Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene, where Williams was found unresponsive. Initial reports indicated multiple callers alerted 911, expressing concerns over a person not breathing. Rescuers attempted lifesaving measures, but Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was summoned due to the severity of the incident. Authorities closed all northbound lanes of Route 45 between Route 60 and Route 83 for investigation, which included witness interviews and gathering physical evidence. The roadway was reopened by 8 p.m.

Williams was employed with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office and was a member of the Jesse White Tumbling Team. Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias’s office and former Secretary of State Jesse White expressed deep condolences, acknowledging the impact of Williams’ service and contributions.
