PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A motorcyclist died in a crash on US-131 Wednesday, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred near Flowerfield Road at 8:30 p.m., approximately 8.6 miles north of Three Rivers and 3.5 miles south of Schoolcraft.
Authorities reported that a 35-year-old man from Three Rivers was riding southbound on US-131 when he lost control and struck the rear of another southbound vehicle.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured.
Officials indicated that speed is a suspected contributing factor in the crash. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time, according to preliminary reports.
Emergency responders attended the scene, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
