A Caddo Parish jury convicted Steven Rubey, 61, of vehicular homicide on Wednesday in Shreveport for a motorcycle crash that occurred on July 29, 2022.
The incident took place on W. 70th Street near Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. According to the Shreveport Fire Department, paramedics found Tammy Lynn Rubey, 52, unconscious in the street. She was transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities stated that testing revealed Steven Rubey’s blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. He was arrested nearly a year later for vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence. A crash report indicated the motorcycle collided with a median on a wet roadway while traveling eastbound.
An autopsy confirmed that Tammy Rubey died from multiple injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured spine, and lacerations to the liver, heart, and right lung.
Steven Rubey is currently held at the Caddo Correctional Center. Sentencing is scheduled for March 4 in the court of District Judge Donald Hathaway Jr.
