A fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 167 claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman on Monday night.
According to Louisiana State Police, Tyler Nicole Girard of Breaux Bridge failed to stop at a stop sign on Bourque Road at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Her vehicle was struck by a pickup truck, causing her car to cross the median and crash into a shed on private property. Despite wearing a seat belt, Girard was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office.
Authorities reported that routine toxicology samples were taken from Girard. The driver of the pickup truck submitted to a breath test, which showed no signs of alcohol or impairment.
This incident marks the sixth fatal crash in Acadiana over the past four days, with five fatalities reported from Friday to Sunday, as confirmed by state troopers.
