Cheyenne Man Arrested After Fatal Motorcycle Crash.

CHEYENNE — A 29-year-old man has been arrested for aggravated vehicular homicide following a fatal motorcycle crash at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the intersection of East Lincolnway and Western Way. A 69-year-old motorcycle rider sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

According to Cheyenne Police Department Public Information Officer Alex Farkas, Oliver Birt was driving a white pickup truck and attempted to make a left turn, colliding with the motorcycle traveling on Lincolnway. Birt was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

Authorities reported that Birt was booked into Laramie County Jail on charges of felony aggravated vehicular homicide and misdemeanor failure to yield while turning left. The Cheyenne Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is conducting the investigation.

The Laramie County Coroner will release the identity of the motorcyclist and notify next of kin, as stated in a news release.
