RICHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJRT) – A 58-year-old man was arraigned on charges related to a hit-and-run motorcycle crash that resulted in a fatality. Michael Tattersfield faces a felony charge for failing to stop at an accident causing death, along with a misdemeanor charge of moving violation causing death.
The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on June 13, when Tattersfield reportedly pulled out from a driveway at Outdoor Adventures onto Richfield Road, colliding with 49-year-old Stephanie Thomas, who was riding a motorcycle.
Thomas sustained severe injuries and subsequently died at Hurley Medical Center. Authorities indicated that Tattersfield fled the scene but was identified by the Richfield Township Police Department shortly after and arrested the next day, June 14.
The Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges earlier this month, leading to Tattersfield’s arraignment on Tuesday. Details regarding his custody status or bond amount have not been disclosed immediately following the arraignment.
