Updated Sept. 11, 2025, 5:31 p.m. ET

A multi-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike on Sept. 8 resulted in the death of Ameer Harcourt Ramouni, 30, of Longwood, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ramouni was riding his motorcycle around 8:30 p.m. when a tow truck changed lanes into his path, causing him to lose control and veer into oncoming traffic. Two vehicles struck him, with a third vehicle hitting debris from the accident.

Authorities confirmed Ramouni was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. There were no lane closures initiated as a result of the incident.

Ramouni, who moved to Florida from metro Detroit two years ago, had been attending flight school with plans to return to Michigan upon obtaining his pilot’s license, according to Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin.

Funeral prayers and burial are set for noon on Sept. 12 at the American Moslem Society in Dearborn. Visitation will occur at the Islamic Center of Detroit on the evenings of Sept. 12, 13, and 14.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
