A motorcycle crash in Mount Prospect on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of a 31-year-old male rider.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of Oakton Street and First Avenue. Authorities said Daniel Nikov, of Des Plaines, was riding west on Oakton Street in the median lane when a Jeep SUV exited First Avenue, turning left onto eastbound Oakton Street, and collided with the motorcycle.
Emergency responders from the Mount Prospect Fire Department transported Nikov to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation, and no further details regarding injuries to the Jeep’s occupants were available. Authorities have closed the eastbound lane of Oakton Street as they conduct the investigation.
