UNION COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — A motorcycle crash claimed the life of Claiborne County Mayor Joseph Brooks on Friday, July 24.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:05 p.m. on State Route 33, where Brooks, 56, was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound near the Claiborne County line. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Brooks veered off the roadway while navigating a curve, crashing into a guardrail before stopping in the outside lane.
Emergency responders pronounced Brooks dead at the scene. This incident has led to an outpouring of support and condolences for the mayor.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
