COLUMBIA, Md. — A motorcycle crash with a bus on Route 32 Wednesday night left one rider dead.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:39 p.m. on Route 32, between Route 29 and Shaker Drive. A Suzuki GSX1300 motorcycle attempted to pass a Howard County Regional Transportation bus when the rider lost control and collided with the side of the bus.
The motorcycle operator, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. No passengers were on the bus at the time of the crash; the driver sustained no injuries and remained on site.
Authorities closed that segment of Route 32 for over four hours to facilitate the investigation and clean-up operations. The roadway has since reopened.
