YATES TOWNSHIP — Two residents of Evart were killed in a motorcycle-SUV crash on US-10 near Forman Road on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 6:40 p.m., according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders found a male motorcycle operator receiving CPR from a witness. Despite attempts by deputies to revive the female passenger, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victims as a 53-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, both from Evart. The SUV involved was driven by a 54-year-old man from Chase, who appeared to sustain no serious injuries.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the motorcycle was traveling east on US-10 when the westbound SUV made a turn into a private driveway, crossing in front of the motorcycle.
The incident is under investigation. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was supported by multiple agencies, including Lake County 911 Central Dispatch, Michigan State Police, Yates Fire Department, Webber Fire Department, Life EMS, West Michigan Medical Examiners Group, and U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement.
