A motorcycle crash on Route 182 in Hancock on Friday, July 24, resulted in the death of Tyler Grey, 32, of Franklin.
According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred when Grey was operating a Buell motorcycle northbound on Route 182. Harold Moore, 2025 Hyundai Sonata driver from Mariaville, was turning left onto Route 182 from Coffin Road when the collision happened.
Moore and his two passengers were uninjured. Grey sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency responders included the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, Maine State Police, Maine Forest Service, Maine Marine Patrol, and Fire Departments from Hancock, Franklin, Eastbrook, Sullivan, and Sorrento. Northern Light Ambulance Service also assisted at the scene.
The accident site was closed for several hours. The investigation is ongoing, with a reconstruction of the incident currently taking place.
