UPDATE: Deadly motorcycle crash in Honea Path, Abbeville County on Saturday night.
ABBEVILLE COUNTY, S.C. —
The Abbeville County Coroner is investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on U.S. 178.
Authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Zachery McCormick from Gray Court. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, McCormick was riding a 2007 Yamaha Sport motorcycle westbound when he veered off the road, striking a utility pole and a fence.
Emergency responders included Abbeville County EMS, Abbeville County Fire, the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Office, and South Carolina Highway Patrol. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Officials confirmed that a lane closure was in effect during the investigation and cleanup.
