MEADOW LAKES, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) – Timothy Hoffman, 58, died in a motorcycle accident on the Parks Highway during a memorial ride for his daughter on Sunday.
Alaska State Troopers reported the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. at mile 49, near South Rainbow Street, when Hoffman lost control of his motorcycle and rolled into the median.
Hoffman was traveling with his wife, Jeannie, who remains in critical condition. Both were unresponsive when authorities arrived.
Troopers said Hoffman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Emergency medical personnel transported both riders to a local hospital, where Timothy Hoffman was pronounced dead.
The motorcycle ride began in Anchorage and was an annual event to honor Cynthia Hoffman, who was murdered in June 2019. Timothy Hoffman’s accident occurred five years to the day of her death.
The Parks Highway was closed for approximately two-and-a-half hours post-accident while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared the scene, diverting traffic to an adjacent frontage road.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation, according to authorities.
Memorial rides for Timothy Hoffman are being organized, as well as a fund established at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union to assist his family with medical and household expenses.
