Ex-NFL Receiver Michael Jackson Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Tangipahoa, LA
TANGIPAHOA, LA – Former NFL wide receiver Michael Jackson died in a motorcycle accident early Friday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on U.S. Highway 51. Authorities confirmed that Jackson, 48, was riding a 2013 Kawasaki when a 20-year-old woman backed her vehicle out of a parking spot, entering both lanes of the highway.
The motorcycle collided with the driver’s side door of the car, resulting in fatal injuries for the vehicle’s driver. Emergency response teams arrived on the scene, but Jackson was pronounced deceased shortly thereafter.
The crash remains under investigation, with lane closures reported during the response. Jackson played in the NFL from 1991 to 1999 for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, leading the league in receiving touchdowns in 1996. After a career impacted by injuries, he served as the mayor of Tangipahoa from 2009 to 2013.
