Four of the five victims in the Virginia bus crash were en route to a family wedding, according to a relative.

Four Family Members Killed in Stafford County Bus Crash on I-95

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A family of four from Massachusetts was killed in a multi-vehicle crash involving a bus on Interstate 95 early Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. in a work zone when a motorcoach collided with several vehicles. The bus struck a Chevrolet Suburban, which then crashed into an Acura carrying the Doncev family: Dmitri Doncev, 45; Ecaterina Doncev, 44; and their children, Emily and Mark, ages 17 and 15. Priscilla Mafalda, 25, of Worcester, Massachusetts, also died in the crash, according to authorities.

Mary Washington Healthcare confirmed that several people were treated for injuries, with one individual in critical condition.

Jing S. Dong, 48, of Staten Island, New York, the bus driver, has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and is currently hospitalized with injuries. He is in custody without bond, and additional charges are expected. Prosecutors stated that evidence suggests Dong may have been “driving in a criminally negligent manner.”

The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting a separate investigation into the crash, indicating the bus was traveling at a high rate of speed. The agency will also assess language proficiency as part of its investigation.

The Doncev family was en route to a wedding in South Carolina. Relatives have confirmed that the wedding will proceed as planned, despite the tragedy.

This incident remains under investigation by Virginia State Police, and more details are expected as the situation develops.
