Investigation Launched into Crash Involving VSO Deputy in Florida.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving a Volusia Sheriff’s Office deputy occurred Thursday at approximately 2:41 p.m. on Prevatt Road.

The incident took place as a Nissan Rogue, driven by an 83-year-old Deltona man, attempted to turn left onto Ohio Avenue while a deputy was traveling southbound with lights and sirens activated for an escort. The Nissan failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle, resulting in a collision.

Emergency responders airlifted the deputy to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken leg and collarbone. The driver of the Nissan did not report any injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Further details are pending.
