Jonesboro, AR – A 73-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Main and Washington Streets around 2:28 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4.
According to the Jonesboro Police Department (JPD), Edwin Michael Dickson was crossing at the intersection when he was hit by a westbound 2016 Jeep Compass driven by David Slatton, 65, of Jonesboro. Emergency personnel rendered aid at the scene, and Dickson was transported to St. Bernards Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The JPD stated that Slatton had a green light at the time of the incident. The JPD’s Traffic Unit is investigating the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
Dickson worked for the Craighead County Circuit Clerk’s office. A statement from the county expressed condolences, stating, “It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of our colleague and friend, Mike Dickson.”
