A 20-year-old motorcyclist from Rochester Hills died following a collision on Hickory Hills Blvd. and Highland Road (M-59) in Oceola Township at approximately 8 p.m. Saturday.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred when a 39-year-old Howell woman turned left onto Hickory Hills Blvd. from Highland Road in a 2016 Ford Expedition, directly in front of a westbound 2023 Honda CMX300 motorcycle. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County EMS. The driver of the Expedition, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained no injuries.
Authorities noted that alcohol may be a contributing factor, while speed is still under investigation. The intersection remained closed for about three hours to allow for an investigation and cleanup.
Deputies were assisted on scene by personnel from Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau is leading the investigation.
