WINDHAM, Maine — A Windham crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle resulted in a fatality and led to additional charges against the driver, Chad Jordan, on Friday.

The incident occurred on September 27, 2023, at approximately 7:07 p.m. in the 850 block of Route 302, also known as Roosevelt Trail. According to the Windham Police Department, witnesses reported that Jordan, 45, of Westbrook, was driving a 2016 white GMC pickup truck erratically southbound when he collided first with a 2010 Honda Odyssey and then struck a motorcycle traveling north in its proper lane.

Authorities confirmed that the motorcycle caught fire immediately upon impact, resulting in the death of its operator, whose identity has not been released pending family notification. Witnesses described the scene as horrific, with flames reaching 20 to 25 feet.

Jordan has been charged with multiple offenses, including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody at the Cumberland County Jail. A preliminary investigation indicated that impairment was a key factor in the crash.

The Windham Police Department, along with its Criminal Investigation Division and Crash Reconstruction Unit, is continuing to investigate the incident. Thorough safety concerns have been expressed regarding the area, prompting the police to emphasize ongoing traffic enforcement efforts supported by a $40,000 grant from the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety.
