NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine — A motorcycle crash on Monday morning resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man in Norridgewock.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office reported the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bridge Street and River Road. A 34-year-old woman from Norridgewock was driving a Jeep Liberty when she failed to yield while turning onto Bridge Street, colliding with a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Joshua Poissonnier.
Poissonnier was thrown from the motorcycle and later died at the hospital; authorities confirmed he was not wearing a helmet. The Jeep driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.
Authorities believe driver inattention and failure to yield contributed to the crash, and there is no evidence of impairment. Police indicated that criminal charges may be forthcoming pending review by the District Attorney’s Office.
