FARGO, ND (LOCAL NEWS WIRE) – A motorcycle crash at the intersection of Main Avenue and University Drive resulted in one fatality on Thursday afternoon.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at 3:20 p.m., a 60-year-old man from Mahnomen collided with the rear of an SUV after running a red light. The SUV, traveling south on University Drive, was struck first, followed by the motorcycle hitting another vehicle behind a pickup.
The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and subsequently struck by the pickup. Despite wearing a helmet, he was transported to Sanford Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The other involved drivers reported no injuries.
Traffic was rerouted for several hours as emergency crews worked at the scene. Fargo Police, Fargo Fire, and Sanford Ambulance aided in the response. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
