Motorcycle crash in West Virginia leaves one person dead.

BERKELEY COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Winchester Avenue on Thursday night, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 9:15 p.m. on April 23 to the 10300 block of Winchester Avenue following reports of a collision. Authorities said the motorcycle, traveling northbound at speeds exceeding 130 miles per hour, left the roadway and struck a parked pickup truck.

Both vehicles caught fire, and emergency crews worked to extinguish the flames. Once the fire was under control, responders found the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending confirmation, as authorities believe the individual was the registered owner and sole operator of the motorcycle. Family members have been contacted.

The investigation is ongoing, led by Accident Reconstructionist Sgt. Ritchie. Chief Deputy Eric Burnett emphasized that speed is a major contributing factor in serious crashes, noting this is the second motorcycle fatality in the county within one week.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is urging motorists to slow down and remain cautious. They are also requesting the public’s assistance in reporting criminal activity, with anonymous tips accepted at 304-267-7000 or via their website.
