Motorcyclist, 28, killed in Waialua crash as Oahu’s 2025 traffic fatalities reach 60.

Motorcyclist Dies in Waialua Crash Monday Evening

A 28-year-old man died following a motorcycle collision on Farrington Highway in Waialua on October 30 at 5:24 p.m.

According to the Honolulu Police Department (HPD), the motorcyclist, traveling north “at a high rate of speed,” broadsided a vehicle driven by a 35-year-old man attempting to turn left into Mokuleia Beach Park. The motorcyclist, wearing a helmet, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

This incident marks the second traffic fatality on Oahu for the day and is part of a troubling trend; it is Oahu’s 60th traffic fatality of the year, surpassing the 29 reported at the same time in 2024. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor, though authorities said it is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role.

Earlier Monday morning, just before 7 a.m., a 52-year-old woman on a moped was killed in a separate crash on Kaneohe Bay Drive when her vehicle was rear-ended and subsequently struck again.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to multiple other two-wheeled vehicle incidents throughout the day. At 3:45 p.m., a 48-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Fort Barrette Road. Also, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 16-year-old e-bike rider sustained serious injuries when hit by a vehicle, while his 5-year-old passenger was in stable condition.

HPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding these incidents.
