A 73-year-old motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in a crash Monday afternoon on North Rochford Road near Nemo.
According to officials, the rider was heading south when a deer crossed the roadway. The driver attempted to brake, but the motorcycle skidded due to locked brakes. He was transported to a hospital in Deadwood with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the incident.
