Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning I-17 Crash Near Glendale
PHOENIX, Arizona — A motorcyclist died following a collision early Saturday on I-17 near Bethany Home Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The crash occurred around 3:04 a.m. in the northbound lanes and involved at least one motorcycle and another vehicle. Authorities said the motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
DPS confirmed that initial reports described a multi-vehicle accident with unknown injuries. This prompted the closure of multiple northbound lanes during the investigation, significantly impacting traffic for hours. All lanes have since reopened, officials said.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation, and it remains unclear whether impairment was a factor. No further details, including the victim’s identity, have been released at this time.
