New Orleans journalist killed in motorcycle crash on CCC bridge
NEW ORLEANS —
MARK DEANE, 48, of Gretna, died Friday following a motorcycle accident on the Crescent City Connection bridge.
According to Louisiana State Police, Deane was operating his motorcycle eastbound when he was rear-ended by a Toyota Camry driven by Alberto Martinez-Sanchez, 29, also of Gretna.
The impact caused Deane to be ejected from his motorcycle, resulting in fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene while wearing a helmet.
The crash also involved a Nissan Rogue, but its driver was uninjured. Authorities report that Martinez-Sanchez struck Deane before colliding with the Rogue.
Martinez-Sanchez was arrested and booked into Orleans Parish Jail, facing charges of negligent homicide and additional counts.
Emergency responders included local law enforcement and medical personnel, and a portion of the bridge was temporarily closed for the investigation.
