NORFOLK, Va. — A 24-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on I-64 westbound near the Robin Hood Road exit, according to Virginia State Police.
Troopers responded to the scene at approximately 4 p.m., where they found the rider unconscious and initiated CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived.
The victim, identified as Elijah Daniel Young of Norfolk, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities reported that Young was riding a 2024 Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic when he attempted to take the Robin Hood Road exit. He collided with a guardrail, which resulted in his ejection from the motorcycle.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and state police have confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
